Overview of media:connect

Player tab

• used to browse media servers and select media items for playback -- just select a server and browse the hierarchy to select a media item for playback.

Server tab

• Client Manager - turn ON/OFF client access to your media servers (media:connect currently provides two media servers from your device - the "persona:library" and "music:library". The "persona:library" contains any media items that you download using the Downloader. The "music:library" contains all of your synced iTunes/iPod music.

• Content Manager - used to remove media items from the "persona:library" server that you have downloaded using the Downloader -- just navigate the hierarchy and use the Edit button to enable editing mode and delete media items.

Controller tab

• Media Renderers - used to control media renderer playback functions -- you can use transport controls such as play, pause, stop, forward, backward, seek, and volume.

• Content Directories - this is similar to the Player, but when you select media items for playback, you will be prompted to select one of your renderers to send the media items to for playback. You can send an entire list of media items by using the "Select All" button in the top right corner, or send an individual media item by just selecting the single media item.

Downloader tab

• Download Content - this is similar to the Player, but when you select media items, they will be downloaded to the "persona:library" media server. You can download an entire list of media items by using the "Select All" button in the top right corner, or download an individual media item by just selecting the single media item.

• Download Manager - used to view progress of downloads, to re-order downloads, or to cancel downloads.

Settings tab

• various settings - each setting has a brief description of what the setting affects.
